Life has been good, but quite hectic.

I haven't had too much time to update this blog, but have been busy on my kids blog.

It's been a blast to have such a nice family!

 

Yeah, Kevin has already joint the team  

I realize I didn't post something when he was born - February 19th.

 

But here's a photo to keep the family tradition going!

Selma and I did an extensive research on all possible names in the galaxy for a baby boy to come up with the name for our next son...

 

Well, not really. It just felt like that... We kept calling the baby a different name every day to see which one would stick.

(That, of course, after crossing out every single top name in each other's list... Deciding by veto means that we'll necessarily end up with the name that was not the favorite for either part... :))

 

 

Well, no more suspense. The name for Eric's baby brother is KEVIN

 

Nope... Not a Brazilian name... We tried every Portuguese name that could be easily spoken in English until we realized that the other way also worked... Kevin is pronounced just like that in Brazil, so he'll be in a good situation when traveling there. No need to spell it all the time.

 

Additionally, Fabinho tells me that Eric and Kevin are both Gaelic names. (He knows that because he almost named his son, Nick, that).

 

So, I guess, like with what happened with Eric, the name ends by showing up after some chaotic process but Selma and I are now really happy with it.

 

And we can now call the little one by his own name...

 

It's almost time for you to come to this World, Kevin! We are anxious to meet you! And we love you a whole lot already!

 

 

 

Selma and I are expecting! Well, that's not new information for most of folks that know us.

The baby has 17 weeks now and growing fast!

 

The new piece of information is that it's a BOY! Another one!

 

That will be fun! Lots of play time with little brother for Eric! And a totally new experience for me and Selma. We never had brothers. Only sisters.

As a matter of fact, the boys won't have any direct uncles. Only the husbands of their aunts...

 

It will take a while for us to come up with a name though... So far, we know which names we DON'T want :)

 

We are in the middle of our bathroom remodeling and I'm having some hard time trying to convince Selma to have this soap dispenser installed in the shower:

Selma's gift for me on my birthday was one day in the track with a instructor.

That was a real blast! I fell in love with my car all over again. It's a very fun ride, when you know what you are doing (which I didn't until this day).

Plus, it really looks great in the pictures :)

The new Zune 8 is also awesome! This whole social thing is really growing on me...

I was feeling a little bad that I never mentioned my car as one of my obsessions... It feels like I'm not proud of it, and that would be shamefully untrue.

 

Some history: back in 2003 I bought, for the first time in my life, a dream car. You know, one of those cars people frequently obsess about having but never get to realize the wish...

 

It was something funny to feel. You know, you look at the photos, you read all about the car, you collect wallpapers months before the car is even released. But you typically stop at that.

 

But I went and bought it!

 

It felt almost wrong at first! A platonic love is not supposed to be fulfilled!

 

But then it felt so right! It's such a pleasant car, from all angles! You walk toward the car and it's beautiful. You sit down and the driving position is perfect. You look around and it's beautiful inside too!

 

And you turn it on... What a sound! Not the "I-need-to-compensate-for-something" growl of a V8. No. It's subtler. It's like a jet engine. Understated, but pleasant. Not overwhelming. Inviting.

 

Of course, it's not without its kinks. And that's the danger in realizing a dream. It can become a nightmare. Totally not the case here! But I was feeling guilty because I was dreaming about other cars (I always do) and not giving my beloved RX-8 the attention it deserved. She's not jealous, I know. But I felt like I was cheating on her :)

 

I love my car and I'd like to share the picture I had as my wallpaper for the longest time before I bought it. It still gives me the chills when I look at it!
